Royal Torbay Yacht Club

The Royal Torbay Yacht Club has been at the heart of sailing in Torbay for over 150 years and is proud of its long and distinguished heritage.

We are one of the oldest and leading yacht clubs in the South West with a thriving and growing membership. The club has always boasted a strong racing focus and this continues today. It supports a wide  range of Junior and Youth sailing from the RYA On Board scheme through to the Olympic pathway. As an RYA Training Centre it organises training and coaching at all levels.  The club encourages sailors, powerboaters and social members who share a common interest. A thriving ladies sailing group known as the Torbay Tiller Girls, Motorboat Section, Cruising group and the long established Offshore Week all contribute to a strong, active and vibrant club.

Our splendid and historic clubhouse sits proudly above the harbour and is home to a busy social programme. The members bar, restaurant and terraced garden with panoramic views over Tor Bay are there for all to relax and enjoy.

The club has over many years established an enviable reputation for staging first class World, European and National Championships. Torbay was the home of the 1948 Olympic Sailing Event and 2015 saw the club playing a significant role in the hosting of the UK stopover of La Solitaire Du Figaro.

We look forward to welcoming the International Dragon Class to the fine sailing waters of Tor Bay.
